JOB DESCRIPTION
The geologist is involved in all aspects of drilling programs, 3D geological resource modeling/interpretation activities, ensuring compliance with QA/QC for data used in the resource estimates, grade control, and management of in-pit ore blending. Work includes field investigations, and technical reporting and documentation of field and analysis work.
The position may occasionally involve domestic and international travel.

FIELD ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:

• Site characterization, geologic and rock-fabric mapping
• Management of geophysical, geochemical and drilling program
• Prepare and update drill hole database, maps of deposits and other exploration records
• GIS management

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in geology
• 5-20 years exploration experience in the field
• Strong software skills in MS Office, Datamine or similar software, Leapfrog, and databases (including GIS)
• Fulfilling daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting duties.
• Strong ability to work collaboratively within a team
• Resource definition, estimation and modelling.
• Comply with external audits and industry best practice by ensuring that all prepared models meet the requirements of JORC, SAMREC and SOX standards.
• Maintain a strong involvement with the QA/QC function in order to ensure the quality of the data supporting the Resource models.
• Coordination of 3D geological modelling for the mining operations and development projects

The geotechnical engineer is involved in all aspects of slope stability analysis, rock mechanics for underground mining, and stability analysis of waste rock stockpiles. Work includes field investigations, engineering analysis, and technical reporting and documentation of field and analysis work.

FIELD ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:

• Site characterization, geologic and rock-fabric mapping
• Geotechnical, geomechanical, oriented-core, and geologic logging

ENGINEERING ANALYSIS INCLUDES:
Geologic and engineering data analysis and calculations for stability analysis, rock-mass strengths and material properties, and numerical analysis.
The position may occasionally involve domestic and international travel for two to four weeks at a time.

The mining engineer is involved in all aspects of management of the short and medium term mine plan, detailed mining path and ore block design along with management of the site ore reserve model. The role is also responsible for annual budget preparation and reporting, tailings planning and delivery of schedules to the mining contractor.

ENGINEERING ANALYSIS INCLUDES:
The mining engineer is responsible for providing mine design, short, medium and long range mine plans, mine scheduling and other areas as needed.
