JOB DESCRIPTION
The geotechnical engineer is involved in all aspects of slope stability analysis, rock mechanics for underground mining, and stability analysis of waste rock stockpiles. Work includes field investigations, engineering analysis, and technical reporting and documentation of field and analysis work.
FIELD ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:

Site characterization, geologic and rock-fabric mapping

Geotechnical, geomechanical, oriented-core, and geologic logging
ENGINEERING ANALYSIS INCLUDES:
Geologic and engineering data analysis and calculations for stability analysis, rock-mass strengths and material properties, and numerical analysis.
The position may occasionally involve domestic and international travel for two to four weeks at a time.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Master of science degree in rock mechanics engineering or geological engineering.

3-10 years industry operational and engineering experience
-
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, AutoCad/ SurvCadd, etc

Fulfilling daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting duties.

Have strong attention to detail

Strong ability to work collaboratively within a team

Experience in a surface mining
-
In-training registration as an engineer
-
Proficiency in use of stereographic projections to analyze geologic structure data
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

PhD of science degree in rock mechanics engineering or geological engineering

Background in mine consulting projects
-
Registration as a professional engineer
-
Pro-active approach to safety and environment
-
Proficiency in Fortran or Visual Basic programming
-
Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills
-
Knowledge of mining software such as Datamine and Minesight.
Applicants must be immediately eligible to work in Iran and have a valid passport for travel to overseas work sites.
